Infusing Quality Ingredients and Smooth Flavors Into the Spirits Industry: A Taste of St. Royale Green Tea Vodka

What do you get when you combine naturally sweet and refreshing flavors with quality ingredients and a passion to provide a product like nothing else on the market? Apparently, the creation of St. Royale Green Tea Flavored Vodka—and it’s quickly becoming the go-to cool cocktail for hot days across the Lowcountry.

Founded by Ted Fason in 2016, St. Royale Vodka officially hit the market at the end of 2017. Well aware of the literal thousands of flavored vodka options, Fason set out on a mission from the start to create something completely different than the typical flavors offered. Upon noticing a void in the spirits industry utilizing this infusion combination, his green tea flavored vodka was born. Taking it one healthy step further, St. Royale Green Tea Vodka is 6 times distilled—to remove common impurities—and gluten-free.

Originally from Chicago, Fason is no stranger to competition and taking challenges head on—something that uniquely equips him as an entrepreneur. A former all-star athlete,  Fason spent two years in Denmark playing basketball before returning to become a financial advisor and banker in Times Square. From athletics to the corporate world, Fason has always excelled in the roles he’s taken on. Entering the spirits industry was no different.

In less than three years since introducing the green tea vodka to local markets in Charleston, St. Royale has already expanded distribution to 4 other states—Alabama, Arizona, California, Georgia—as well as Canada! In addition to purchasing the bottles straight from package stores, Fason has worked diligently to ensure patrons can enjoy his green tea vodka in cocktails across the Lowcountry. Currently on over 250 menus, his featured libation is The Charleston Cocktail, a twist on the traditional summer classic, Arnold Palmer. (See Recipe of The Charleston Cocktail On the Next Page.)

Due to its subtle but fragrant notes of green tea and honey, fans of this smooth vodka also enjoy it simply on the rocks; others opt for ginger ale (or beer) and lime. An interesting note about the honey is Fason’s dedication to preserving the honeybee population, which is notably declining around the world due to climate change, pesticides, and continued development that eliminates green spaces and flowers. To do his part, St. Royale Vodka has partnered with the BEE Girl Organization to help protect the bees “that produce the honey needed to create our product.”
